Business Process Improvement |

|
| One way of doing something yields better results than another way of doing the same thing. This is true for companies as well, which often realise that their business processes are not aligned with their long-term strategies for growth. They then feel the need to dovetail and mould these processes so that they fit perfectly into the organization’s strategy grooves. Business process improvement (BPI) ensures that the processes achieve the objectives they are designed for so that they become a source of competitive advantage for the client. In the past, TSMG has worked on a variety of assignments relating to BPI. We undertake a comprehensive analysis of business processes to identify inefficiencies and suggest improvements. This is done by mapping the processes at the level of activities, identifying the roles of different agencies in the activities and defining the need of every activity. TSMG undertakes BPI projects in a manner that ensures widespread participation of client teams. This helps in driving change through the organization and ensures that the improvements suggested are internalized and implemented and the program is successful and sustainable. BPI has been a very successful practice at TSMG with tremendous client impact. We have improved a large auto company’s channel related processes by introducing a warranty reimbursement process that helped cut the reimbursement time for dealers by 60 per cent. We have also redesigned finance function processes for a large steel company enabling increase in productivity and reduction in processing time. Further, we have designed the maintenance and procurement processes of a large chemicals plant — the company was able to substantially reduce inventory carrying costs and was able to move from a breakdown to a preventive maintenance schedule.
